Objective of PM Free Solar Panel Yojana

Under this scheme, 90% of the total cost of the installation of solar pumps will be spent by the government and the remaining 10% will be paid by the farmers themselves. Through Free Solar Panel Yojana 2023, electricity generated from solar panels can be used for irrigation as well as selling additional generated electricity to the (DISCOM) department. Selling this electricity will also provide a means of income and at the same time, this solar panel will last for 25 years.

The plan will start with building 10,000 MW more plants on land and providing 1.75 million off-grid agricultural solar pumps.

Two types of benefits will be given to the farmers through this Kusum Yojana through the Prime Minister.
Through this Pradhan Mantri Solar Panel Yojana, the Government of India will provide the benefits of free solar panel scheme to 20 lakh farmers across the country.
For irrigation, the pump can be run with the energy obtained instead of running it with petrol diesel. Due to which the money spent in petrol diesel will be saved.

Eligibility of Solar Panel Kusum Yojana

Interested applicant must be a permanent resident of India.
Under the Free Solar Panel Yojana, any type of financial qualification is not mandatory for the project with its own investment.
Farmer can apply only for 2 MW capacity in proportion to the land or the capacity notified by the Distribution Corporation (whichever is less).
0.5 MW to 2 MW to take advantage of Kusum Yojana
The applicant can apply only for solar power plants up to capacity.
About 2 hectares of land will be required for each MW.
